Royal Automobile Club of South Australia - RAA
Mark has been in the motor industry for over 30 years, starting with an apprenticeship in a small repair and engineering business run by the then President of the MTA. He then went on to complete further studies and after gaining experience in various parts of the industry, joined the Royal Automobile Association of South Australia (RAA) as a Vehicle Inspector in 1982.
Besides being involved in the assessment of vehicles for the last 26 years, Mark holds a senior technical position within the RAA as their principal adviser on motor vehicle related matters. He is the manager of the RAA's Technical activities, which includes a technical advisory service for members, so he understand what motor vehicle issues may be emerging for consumers and the motoring public in general.
As well as being a judge in Australia's Best Cars evaluating new vehicles, Mark also writes the new and used car reviews for the RAA's member magazine, samotor. In addition, he represents the RAA on various state and national government committees that cover car theft, environmental issues, vehicle safety and special vehicle requirements, so he has a good handle on all the elements that go into making a good car.
Mark has a family of three boys and a practical understanding of what a family needs in a car, having conducted the RAA's Family Car of the Year awards, prior to the amalgamation of the Motoring Clubs awards. He is also an Assoc. Member of the Society of Automotive Engineers.
